ParticipantMy John Lewis JLBIWD1493 washing machine displays an E10 error message 5 minutes into the drying cycle
The manual says it might be the water inlet which is faulty which makes no sense to me as clearly water is going in during wash cycle and you dont want water coming in during drying cycle
Very confusing
I would really appreciate any help
Thanks

Water is taken in during the drying cycle to condense the steam. The valve is faulty.
Unplug before investigating! :plug:

Thanks a lot for your message. However if the inlet valve was faulty wouldn’t it cause an issue during a washing cycle also ? (the wash cycles are going fine)

The valve has three outlets – two to the dispenser and one for the drier condenser. E10 is a family of codes for valve related issues; engineers will look in the diagnostics to get an E11, E12 etc. to identify the culprit.
Makes little difference in this case as the valve is one unit.Unplug before investigating! :plug:

Got it. Thanks again. Is it worrth replacing the valve for a machine which is 8 years old are shall I replace the machine ? Do you have a sense of how much it costs to replace the valve ?
Thanks againAugust 25, 2016 at 1:38 pm #440436Martin

The valve (part no. 50297094000) is available online for around 24 quid. Far cheaper than a new machine I’m thinking. 😉

No idea as eSpares hide the original part numbers so you can’t price compare but, this is the correct valve:

ParticipantHi. I am having the same issue, so having removed the lid I can see the water inlet has 3 solenoids but all 3 go to the soap draw(wash compartment, pre wash compartment and stain compartment). I can’t see any pipes connected to the condenser. Is it still likely to be a faulty inter valve?

Moderatorwhats the model and pnc number of your machine
you can check the valve coils with a multi meter if you have one. expect around 3 to 5000 ohms

Moderatorok well the fault can only be one of 2 things
1 the valve is not being energised
2 the valve is faulty inside and not openingDave

ParticipantHi
Which of the 3 valves is for the drying cycle?
is it possible to remove/inspect or swap with another as we don’t use the soap drawOctober 31, 2022 at 9:28 am #440445electrofix
Moderatoryou cant swop the valves as the one for the dryer is restricted so it only trickles in. Also you may nit use the soap draw but the machine still gets water through it
follow the pipes and see if one does not go to the soap draw
