    Hi All,

My own Ikea oven Mod:50065640 Serial No: 8541856115010 140319038412
has suddenly stopped heating on oven function.

Having checked the forums for previous posts/advice before buying an element I thought i’d check it first.
It’s sound with no distortion, and has 28.5 ohms resistance, so have re-fitted.
Upon re-starting the oven, the element heats up, although the main fan (middle back) doesn’t seem to be coming on, (but top fan does) and after a short while the element ‘switches off’ leaving top fan to run.
The main fan coil has 148ohms resistance and is getting 240v.
I think it has a thermister (or overheat stat?) which has 0.45ohms resistance.

Worth mentioning, is that the control has occasionally has started a program when in a different (off) position. It’s not doing it now, and only did it say couple times a year – Just needed the control positively put back to off position.

It’s 10 years old, but am looking to keep it going for a while more if possible.. any help appreciated.
    Cheers

Sounds very much like the fan motor unit needs replacing. At 10yrs old that is good mileage, the end bearings must be well worn.

    Hi Martin, thanks for reply.
Would the fan motor (speed/motion) be also responsible for the heat issue ?
As an boiler engineer, typically a boiler wont fire if the fan doesn’t ‘prove’ and wonder if oven tech is anywhere similar..?
    Cheers
