When started the drain pump operates for maybe 10 -15 secs, pauses and then operates again.

No water in base, water supply ok, and continuity across all components although not certain about reed switch.

I’m guessing either PCB (most likely) or water metering (maybe).

    Any ideas folks?

water metering no. Water would have to flow so prog could detect failure

assuming no fault codes as it just restarts

do the lights on the prog go dimmer as it restarts ?

if yes or even as a try look inside timer pcb to see what sort of power supply it has. if its a capacitor style using a large 1uF of 1.5uF then change it and see what happens

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for all your help on this, and the oven cut-out problem

Replaced PCB only to discover that the combined circ pump/heater was just humming. No blockages and the rotor didn’t seem overly hard to rotate so I assume the motor is just stuffed. Worse still, Whirlpool appear to be supplying (at great expense) separate pump and heater assy as replacements for the original combined unit. Why are dishwashers such unreliable, leaky, electrically frail, piles of junk?

You can replace the motor without replacing the heater

    Hi Grendal,

Quoting for replacement of the appliance so it’s academic now, but thanks for pointing that out – even so, the pump is ludicrously expensive
