Had bright white flash from left side kick plate as I turned on cycle which tripped house electric. Then turn machine back on and f06 error so replaced interlock and handle, old lock was bit burnt inside.
    New lock won’t lock??
I’m using an analogue tester on lock switch Hotpoint WMXTF942K washing machine.
    Obviously the machine is unplugged…
Switch pin no.s are 321 whichfit into lock with pin no.s 543.
    5into3, 4into2, 3into1.
On switch I only get a reading when black probe in middle pin no.2 and red probe in end pin no. 3. What does this mean?
Also there’s only the motor under where the flash came from could it be that?
The inlet water tray was very blocked black slime which is sort of above motor…. inlet tray clean n replaced. Please help my teenager needs clean clothes lol.

    Re: What next

Bad luck or what! But the door locks shorting out on Indesit and Hotpoints because of the rather hopeless connector block is not unknown.
“Also there’s only the motor under where the flash came from could it be that?” Could be, but most likey the pcboard. So………
At a guess, because I haven`t looked up your model, your next point of call is to see if the pcboard has blown and if it has it usually gone pop somewhere near the middle of the board and you can`t really miss it.. That is the part as a consequence of an iffy lock that you saw go pop…….I hope for your sake that I`m wrong!
