ParticipantAm I right to panic, or is this normal?
I’ve just fitted a full repair kit to my ancient Samsung RS21, following instructions to the letter.
Since switching it back on, the fridge temperature was rising rapidly – up to 30 – until I switched it to Power Cool. It’s now falling slowly, but is this normal or have I done something wrong?
(The reason I fitted the repair kit was because it was tripping the RCD.)December 23, 2016 at 7:49 pm #444020admin

Hi Bryan,
Thank you for the rapid reply. I fitted it this evening.
My worry wasn’t so much that the temperature wasn’t going down, it’s that it was rocketing. When I plugged in the fridge the readout said 20, but within five minutes it was up to 30.
I’m pretty confident I fitted all the parts, in the correct positions.
Which sensor controls the temperature readout?December 23, 2016 at 8:10 pm #444022DRW

It’s down to 6 now on the display, by the way, after being on Power Cool.
In contrast, the freezer (on Power Cool) is still on 8.December 23, 2016 at 8:19 pm #444023LothianDomestics

What was the original fault that caused you to order/fit parts?
If you open both doors, is the section in the middle of the fridge and freezer hot to the touch?

The middle section is cool to the touch.
The original fault was that the unit was tripping out the RCD. The water dispenser had stopped working a while ago, and I’d thought nothing of it. But when I dismantled the fridge, everything was iced up.
One concern is that the panel that covers the heater had a melted section in the plastic.

Thank you for the reassurance. Seeing the melted plastic had me worried.
