Hi, The pump on my indesit washing machine is playing up and only operating intermittently. There are no blockages, and the impella turns fine. When I watch it on drain mode, sometimes it works fine and sometimes not. Doesn’t appear to be any pattern to it. Happy to replace pump if it’s faulty but would have though that it would either work or not, not sometimes work and sometimes not. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Worn pumps can work intermittently but your machine would have had to have been used excessively for yours to be that badly worn, but then it is an Indesit after all. 🙁

The electronics are sometimes a bit ticklish on these, as is the water level switch.

I know you say the pump impellor will turn, but does it have any ‘side to side’ movement. If it has, even a small amount then it will seize intermittently.

thanks for your reply. No, no play whatsoever, feels as I would expect. No side to side movement, and turns nicely in quarter turns both ways. Water level switch sounds like a possibility, easy to check ?

should also have mentioned, when it doesn’t work, I can see there is power going to the pump, and it vibrates but doesn’t spin.
