Bosch Exxcel Dishwasher
SGS45E62GB/64
Hi there I have been having problem with my dishwasher as above. I get the error code 1 showing me that water has not reached temperature correctly. Problem I have is that the heater is heating but not enough. Is there a thermostat that controls this heater if so where really. Seems odd it gets partially hot but not full heat. Then I end up with the final continues run at 1 second because it’s not made heat. I’m guessing of course on this. Any help much appreciated as I’m getting to the end of my tether on this one..Cheers. PaulC.

are you sure it is heating slightly ? is it plumbed to hot water making you think its heating
first thing I would check is the timer as the heater relay solder joint has a habit of failing. cheap easy fix if that’s what it is

Thanks Dave. It’s cold fill and enough to steam my glasses up When I open the door but the machine sits there on 1 at the end trouble is you don’t know if it’s an error code 1 or just stuck on the end of the cycle if you see what I mean. Thanks for your help or further info on this timer or where I can find it.

The 1 indicates its has ‘timed out’ for some reason. It doesn’t necessarily mean heater/temperature faults. It could be not draining properly for example. Is there water left in the tub?

Thanks Martin. I have gone through all I can think of have cleaned all the system out. Loads of gunk in it. Just keeps running still, water has gone. And as I said above seems hot from steam on my glasses.

Are you referring to the inlet fill matrix, float system and attendant pipe work?

OK, so now, as Dave mentioned, you will need to check the PCB on the control unit for damaged heater relay terminals. Access via outer door panel removal. Caution: Do not remove the 4 (2 each side) door hinge screws, only those around the perimeter of the inner stainless door panel. 😉

Ok on to the PCB it is then. Is it all surface mount stuff or plug in?Any particular thing to look for bearing in mind I have no drawings. Bit odd for me to have nothing to refer to in fault finding. Thanks again for your help.

the relay is not a surface mounted device as it carries about 8amp heater current
as the boards are made they are soldered in a wave soldering machine. the smaller components solder quickly but the larger components take a bit longer. as you can imagine its a balancing act to try to get the larger components to solder while trying not to damage the smaller ones by overheating. its common for the solder not to be quite right on the relays and others like them
what you looking for is bad solder joints on the relay legs. you may well have to use a magnifying glass but most of the time its very visible
Also we as engineers go armed with no information on as regular basis as manufacturers don’t release service information unless you are one of their agents and sadly Bosch are one of the worst as most of us have no info at all

That’s brill Dave. Thanks for all that info. Odd about the information not being allowed out by Bosch. Use to tell my engineers no drawings quote for new ones. Thanks again.

Hi people have got to the control PCB as shown it looks like it just splits into 2 half’s. if some one gets the time to answer can you just confirm the plastic cover just splits into two as I don’t want to force any thing.

Thanks Martin. It didn’t want to go when I started I must have missed a latch the bottom bit stays on the facia I guess. ?

Hi guys here again to pick your brains. The pics above show the only problems I could see on the board but looks odd. The top pic shows the rear of the PCB and the next the actual component. It looks to me as though the shown pin has never been soldered in but I could be wrong. Is this the timer component it looks like a little tranny to me? And help on this ongoing saga appreciated. Thanks. Paul.
