ParticipantHello!
My name’s Helen, and I’ve joined to ask this every important question, as I don’t know what to do!
I need to replace my washing machine, but I’m fed up of the big brands fobbing me off! I’ve been to AO, Currys and Tescos, and I just keep seeing bad reviews!
Is there any local home appliance companies that are reliable? I’m not worried about price, I just need great service!
Thanks in advance for any help 🙂

Hi Helen
Ask around friends and neighbours as word of mouth is nearly always the best recommendation.
Retra association members are a good bet you can search locally for one here They all work to a code of practice and can usually be trusted.
Once you have found a potential company try Googling the business name followed by keywords like complaints or reviews. Social media is also a good source as well.
We are an independent retailer with over 200 years experience between us so we like to think we know a thing or two. If you post up a budget and requirements I will have a look for you.

Hi Helen, I think the negative reviews are indicative of the culture that we seem to be living in nowadays.
People would rather spend energy in negative ways rather than in a positive way. I think people should be encouraged to write positive reviews, obviously if they’ve had a positive experience, to counteract the negative ones.
Most of the reviews say more about the reviewer than the product anyway!
If I were you, I’d be guided by Don’s expert knowledge of appliances.
200 years of experience to take advantage of shouldn’t be sniffed at.

Hey fellow Brummie,
I know exactly what you mean about the big brands tending to not provide the best customer service. I actually decided to buy a home appliance locally for the first time recently and I was pleasantly surprised.
I bought a fridge as opposed to a washing machine from a company called Buy Home Appliances based in Brum, They delivered on time and their installation guys were really friendly. I’m a big fan of heavy metal and one of the guys was a huge Iron Maiden fan so many metal conversations were had haha.
