ParticipantHi all,
Had the dubious pleasure of going out to one of these tumble dryers this morning. The noise it had developped was quite something! From what I had seen on the Ukwhitegoods forums, it looked like the problem was the blower fan. Made a beeline for it, and indeed it was in bits. However, it wasn’t the cause of the noise. The drum is juddering as soon as it gets to a certain speed.
I think it’s the bearing at the back and possibly a distended belt (didn’t seem that tight to me). Could it also be the front rollers rather than or as well as the back bearing? They seemed in good nick.

In case anyone encounters same problem, fitted new back bearing and belt (also broken blower fan) today and it’s done the trick. Machine nice and quiet again.
The hardest bit was remembering where the millions of screws went back as you pretty much have to strip down the whole machine.July 3, 2017 at 11:40 pm #448472kwatt

Is that one of the horrid heat pump ones Lawrence still starts shaking quite violently when you ask him about them? 😉

Must admit I nearly didn’t want to know when I saw it had gas in it, but I kept well away from the sealed unit and the compressor and pipes, and all was well.
Customer swears by it. Apparently, only costs £20 a year to run and dries very well. Except she just spent £120 having it fixed after less than 3 years… ‘cos the parts aren’t cheap!January 2, 2018 at 9:47 pm #448475garn

Change the pump and the float sensor together, simple job they are both accessible from the back.
