My Aquarius 1100 WM63 washing machine does not start. It is out of warranty.

When I close the door and try to start it, nothing happens: no noises, no smells, etc. I suspect that the door mechanism is at fault: when I close the door, the indicator light does not come on.

It is plugged in; the fuse in the plug is working; the circuit breaker in the flat has not tripped; hot water is on in the flat; nothing’s changed with the hoses (no leaks, etc.).

I suspect that I need to replace the door mechanism, but wanted a second opinion before doing so.

If anyone had any diagnostic or troubleshootig suggestions, I’d be grateful. (I’ve got a full toolkit, know how to use a multimeter, etc.)

    Thank you,

    Colin

Re: troubleshooting my Aquarius 1100 WM63

    could be

    on off switch

    but most likely door interlock

    https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/c001999 … -interlock

only thing that can happen is if its gone with a pop it will blow a track on the timer and that has to be soldered to repair it

    try this
open door, plug machine in. select a programme, switch on and wait 10 secs.
    now close the door

sometime this will kick it into life if yes its the door lock if no it does not mean its not

    Thank you very much Dave.

When following your steps, I discovered that my problem was even simpler: the switch had become switched off at the socket…

Having thus proved that I’m a newbie, I can only hope that other newbies make similarly obvious mistakes.

    Thanks again!

I should think so, it is between 14 and 16 years old after all. 😉
