ParticipantHi I have a Bosch Aquastar 6.0L with error 9 code after the wash is complete. The water is always cold.
How can I cheaply find out the precise cause? Is it worth repairing? Also is it easy to prove this was a manufacturing defect? We took appropriate steps for hard water.
I have a multi-meter but not sure what to test. The repair must be carried out by a repair person and not DIY.

The heater (attached to the main pump motor) needs replacing. 🙁
Have you been putting salt in the water softener regularly?

Hi Martin,
Thanks for getting back to me quickly.
Absolutely been putting salt in the dishwasher regularly. Is it is possible that it could be the thermostat/circuit board/heat pump rather than the heating element?
The dishwasher is less than 3 years old.

Can’t rule anything out without checking of course but heater unit THE most likely culprit.

Ok good to know, thank you.
Looks like it would be something like up to £160 parts and labour according to the which website. Might be best just to buy a new dishwasher in that case. Not prepared to DIY when water and electronics are involved.
We live in a hard water area. Error 9 seems to be a common complaint as well as error 15. Might be grounds for a claim of defective manufacturing with the retailer since some of the dishwashers are failing after only 2 or 3 years and this apparently does not seem linked to failing to use salt in some cases.

Hi
Can you post up the ENR and FD no. please. Usually found just left of the door catch etched into the metal. Not easy to spot sometimes, a torch may help.
