ParticipantHi,
Got a grinding noise from the tumble and now that I have taken it apart I have found the dryer fan just spins freely around the shaft from the motor.
Am I correct in thinking that the fan should be securely fixed to the shaft from the motor ?
A picture is uploaded so you can see the fan part.
ThanksGareth

ParticipantHi
I have exactly the same problem so I removed the motor and fan etc. but I can’t get the fan off the spindle!
I have tried gentle brute force but it won’t budge.
Is there a trick to getting the fan of the spindle?
Thanks

Moderatorif the fan is spinning on the shaft on should come off easily. try turning it as your pulling but you will have to stop the motor turning at the same time

ParticipantHi Dave
I have the full motor assembly out of the machine and removed the nut that is supposed to hold the fan in place but the damn fan won’t come off the spindle even though it’s completely loose and wobbles.
It’s as though there is a spring washer or something holding onto it no matter how much I pull or hit it.
I even tried a screwdriver and hammer to the back of it.
ThanksMay 30, 2019 at 2:23 pm #453462electrofix
Moderatorwell all I can suggest is to carefully cut it off. you can use something like a soldering iron to melt parts of it to try and split it or junior hacksaw even a Dremel if you have one
fan is expendable so don’t worry what you do to it as long as there is no damage to the motor

ParticipantAt this moment I feel like using a lump hammer on the bloody thing!
Cutting looks like my only option as there is nothing holding it on but it won’t come off …. Weird!
Cheers
