    Hi All
    I have an Indesit drier and it has a fault
    It is a IDCE8540BH(uk)

    It has come up with a F04 code

    I have taken the back off and checked the stats ( I am a qualified NICEIC / SELECT registered electrician and have the test equipment)

    Both cut out thermostats have continuity, there is a thermistor – this is where I need help

    What should be the reading across the thermistor?

    Is there a reset possible – I really need help

    Ta for the help in advance

    I was referred here from Chris at the electricians forums

    what reading are you getting across the thermistor. would expect it to be ?K ohms

    there is also another thermistor at the front

    assume you measured other stats out of circuit or made sure it was zero ohms ish

    have no access to fault codes on this personally but other members have. its a hotpoint unit built before whirlpool took them over

    also these dryers were recalled for safety has your been done ?

    check here

    Don’t have error codes for this exact model but this is F04 on previous model.

    F04 Pump working when should be off.
    • Check security of module connector J5;
    • Check connector for signs of shorting due to moisture;
    • Replace module (F04 would normally be caused by a faulty
    module).

    My IDCE8450BH had fault code F08. It was an open circuit on the heater coil. I swapped the heater unit complete with the 2 thermal cut out and the thermostat. This gave me a new fault code F04. The thermostat on the new unit was not compatible with the machine. I replaced the thermostat with the thermostat from the original heater unit. Now my IDCE8450BH is running without any faults. Hope this helps.
