    Hi
    My Candy washing machine just won’t start. All the lights are on and the timer is going down but nothing is happening.
    I’ve drained it and checked the filter at the front but they’re clear.
    Any suggestions greatfully accepted.

    Ok start at the beginning when you close the door does the door lock?

    first thing to check would be the motor carbon brushes

    really simple

    plug out
    pull machine out
    remove back
    remove belt , motor plug, earth wire and 2 10mm bolts holding motor
    motor slides off pegs and can be got out

    brushes are in black holders at rear of motor

    you could try a quick test
    plug out, pull machine out and tilt it up 45 degrees to get underneath. (some machines have a plastic cover underneath which you move out of the way) You will see the brush holders at the back of the motor. tap each one firmly with the plastic handle of a screwdriver. put machine back down and try it
    if it runs you have just proved its the brushes. If it does not it still could be so you have to take the motor out to check

    Job done. Carbon brushes replaced and machine going like new.
