I have a Swan gas cooker & recently when the oven is lit the hob flames reduce in their intensity. Is this a simple fix or time for a new cooker?

Sorry if this problem has been posted previously.

    Thanks in advance.

This isn’t something you can fix yourself you will need A gas safe engineer

does it only happen when you turn the oven on or if you light the grill or turn on more hob burners does it do it then ?

If the hob rings are the only thing lit, then all is ok. As soon as I light the oven, then the hob flames lower their intensity but go back to full when I turn the oven off. This has just started happening, so I’m at a loss as to what’s going on?

well if it was a gas flow problem to the cooker from the gas main itself I would expect the hob flames to be affected if any other burner was turned on. since it is just the oven and no other combination makes any difference the problem can only be in the cooker

which means you either call in a professional gas safe engineer or scrap it and get a new cooker

The cooker has no regulator and is controlled by the gas meter so it’s a gas safe engineer you need

    Thanks for the reply

Fortunately my brother is a gas safe engineer so I’ll let him have a look.

He will need to check the working pressure if that’s fine there could be a slight blockage in the gas pipe going to cooker let us know how you get off

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been working away.

We have decided that a new cooker is the best outcome for this problem. The Swan cooker was a cheap replacement & it’s done us for 3 years so time for an upgrade.

    Thanks for all your replies.
