ParticipantMorning all,
Condenser tumble dryer had an F8 error code (heater fault). Tried re-setting the thermostat but no joy. I bought and fitted a new heater element off Fleabay. Tumble dryer made noise but drum wouldn’t turn, and tripped RCD. When I turned the drum by hand, it would start turning, so capacitor must need replacing; bought, fitted and drum now turns….but no heat. New heating element must have tripped the RCD, but the thermostats are single use and can’t be re-set. New heater arrived this morning and fitted, but still no heat.
I’ve checked connections, cleaned the machine to within an inch of its life. I have more belly button fluff than this wretched machine. Before I call someone out or buy a new machine, can anyone offer any advice, or words of comfort please?!!
Thanks in advance, Steve.

from what I am seeing there seems to be 3 heater elements fitted to this range of machines. I cant say what the difference between them is but it may make a difference
also try the machine on a timed programme to see if it heats on that and some machines will not heat unless they detect wet clothes for energy saving purposes
when you tried it did you put wet clothes in it ?

Hi Dave,
That’s what I thought initially, so yes, put some wet clothes in. Put it on a timed programme and it almost immediately on starting dropped the time from 2hrs to 10mins. I put a heavier load in, and on an untimed setting, and no heat on either.
Where are the other heater elements hiding?!
Thanks, Steve.

there are not 3 elements in the machine but there seems to be 3 different elements fitted depending on serial numbers
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/catalog … ng+Element
you can also get the stats separately
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/catalog … hermostats
which would have been a lot cheaper than the element

Apologies, mis-read your post. The one I bought is supposedly compatible with this model number, but I have e-mailed the seller to confirm. Thanks Dave.

what is the part number on the unit you have received ?
the seller can confirm it fits the model but will not be able to confirm it is correct without the serial number and commercial code
even if its wrong it still might not be the reason its not heating

The MPN is C00258828 which I’m sure is the correct part for the machine?

part needed depends on commercial code and serial no
there are 3 elements listed
C00258799
C00260045and the one you have got C00258828
all are different in some way otherwise they would be the same part number.

Fair point. On the front of the machine, there’s a sticker;
Model CTD80P
Serv. ref. 95313560000 703200204Is that enough to identify the right part, or should I be looking somewhere else?
