ParticipantI Bought a Tumble Dryer from a shop. They deal with Beko cast offs and repair/resell them to the consumer. In most instances I have bought these products with no problems and they work fine. This Tumble dryer was bought home and although it powered up (interface) , the unit refused to spin or heat up. I took it back only to witness at the repair shop , it worked fine. Can you advise me what could possibly cause this . I have tried it on various sockets (that work) in the Kitchen and another room in the house . It refuses to work. EVERYTHING else works on these sockets , dishwasher, kettle, fridge, buzz saw , drills ,vacuum cleaner, microwave, cooker, … everything. I might have to take it back but its isn’t faulty but it doesn’t work on my home circuit ?? Weird!!

ModeratorWhat has the shop said ?
As a retailer I would have got involved in finding a problem as its very strangeI assume you are on mains power and not using generators
As a long shot have you tried it either next door or at any of your friends housesDave

ParticipantHi don, hi Dave. Model is DCJ83133w. Shop is as stumped as I am. He said take it back and try again different sockets maybe. On mains power . Not taken it next door due to taking it back and forth to shop without damaging it every time I is moved

ModeratorIs there any symbol showing in the display when you attempt to power it up?

Moderatorjust out of interest I checked the error codes
the machine will stop if the voltage on the mains goes below 165V or above 265V
This would be highly unlikely and you would have had other things blow

ParticipantI bet a quick ‘ Martindale socket checker’ will show the house wiring is at fault. Live/neutral reversed or worst still earth return not connected maybe?

ParticipantWhen I switch it on, it lights up, selection device lights, then press start button , and the drying and star/ pause leds light up and thats it. When in the shop, a click is heard and the spin cycle starts up. The Voltage is 247v according to my multimeter , tested ground earth and same reading .

Moderatorcould be an intermittent fault that just happened to not be there the day you took it back
that why you need to try another supply
you could ask next door to give you an extension lead for 5 mins just to give it a quick try
