ParticipantHi,
I have a 12 year old Miele W3444 washing machine which has suddenly developed a knocking noise during the high spin. Any suggestions?
Thanks

ParticipantThanks for your reply. I’ll give it a go. I’ve got the motor out at the moment to check the brushes (they look fine considering the age). Could do with knowing how to run the spin without putting the front back on and choosing a drain & spin programme. Not sure how to work the service mode though.

Moderatormiele are very secretive so getting tech info is hard
as far as i am concerned it boils down to 2 possibles drum problems or shock absorbers

Moderatorwell that’s serious
sounds like a drum spider failure and if it is then its beyond economical repairDave

ParticipantYou mean the big solid metal wheel at the back, driven by the belt? If so, what could be wrong with it? It looks ok from what I can see.

no the drum spider is bolted to the back of the drum and carries the weight if the washing
this is the same part from an old hotpoint machine

ParticipantAh, I see. Is it possible to get hold of the Miele part? If it was reasonable money I’d potentially give it a go if the machine is scrap anyway.
Cheers for your help with this, it’s much appreciated.
