Hi folks,
I have the above machine which I’ve worked out to have a failing pressure sensing issue (F10). It was a quick visit and I didn’t have time to establish whether it was the sensor or its plumbing, there was a lot of debris whizzing about the drum, most of which I fished out the filter, once I finally managed to unscrew it.I’ve had a look on t’old internet and have a procedure to activate the test mode, this involves selecting mode 1,2 then 3 whilst power cycling the machine with a final anti clockwise turn and then pressing start but until I return this is not confirmed. Does anyone know the correct procedure?

there is an engineering doc that says the pressure hose has a habit of rubbing through on this machine best check that first

Not sure which ‘test mode’ procedure you are trying to use, however there is no mention whatsoever of any button activated test mode for this model in the service manual. As Dave has mentioned a hole rubbed into small pressure hose, often close to where it is clipped to the outer drum at the side is quite a common fault.
Cheers iadom / exlectrofix dave, I checked that pipe carefully along with the plastic lower chamber (No idea its official title), no cracks or holes, no rubbing. I noted a nice big sock, possible made from neoprene, around the pipe so in this case there’s nothing for the pipe to rub on. I’ve ordered the pressure switch.
I’m really surprised there’s no engineer mode or test mode as previously mentioned. Even my 15yo LG has the ability to check all major functions in sequence, Another hotpoint, washer/drier I had pleasure to fix had this facility, just bins hours of waiting it to go wrong while it washes socks!..
I tried the 1,2,3 power cycle trick, obviously unique to the hotpoint machine featured in the youtube video, certainly don’t work on the HVL211..
You can run a test cycle if you are prepared to fork out over £100 for the hardware key. 😉
What you are talking about sounds like a much older WMA model?
General concensus is that a hair clip could have caught on the drum, with a spin cycle it’s end rubbing on the plastic case would have got needle in flame hot and done its damage. I could fit my fingers between the casing and drum and it was roughly where the drum front meets the drum skin rather than the drum front rim.. Either way tiz toast.. For another tenna she can have a brand new machine.. Bit gutted I hadn’t seen it from the getgo..
hairclip would not have caused that damage you can see its badly melted. no a big bra wire possibly
looks more like drum contact probably the drum spider failed and flexing during spin
anyway yes its another sealed drum failure ( load of tat)
if its under 5 you may be able to claim on the 5 year part warranty but you have to pay for labour.
