I have the Philips GC8260 pressurized steam generator. The problem is that I have no steam.

I checked almost everything and I decided that the fault is the water pump. So my question is, can this work (I can hear a sound at least at the begging) but there is no water in the boiler. Is there any way to ensure that the problem is the water pump? If I manually fill the boiler with water then I have steam.

    Regards,

PS: I have heating, I changed the PCB capacitors and I also checked the thermistor and fuses. They are all good.

if the sound you can hear is the water pump energising and it not pumping the water then its likely the pump has failed (unless you have a blockage)

did find service manual but may be of use

Leaving water in the tank when not in use can cause issues, try an iron descaler once you have reassembled it.

Don thanks, but I never left water in the tank when the iron is not used.

Also, iron descaler should not help there, I ordered a new water pump. Still, I don’t know if these kinda problems are usually on steam generators.

    New pump solved the problem.

Question : What sensor is used to sense low water/steam inside boiler to decide when water pump should start working ?

I would assume the thermistor on the tank. as the water get lower the temp will rise as it runs out of water

    (but cant be certain)
