KeymasterMy washing machine appears to be having a blonde moment! It fills a little, on any setting, turns over slowly and then the programmer just clicks around aimlessly and nothing further happens. It sems locked in some sort of loop! Any suggestions please.

The power lamp will flashing in a rhythmical manner, ie 1234 pause, repeat. Count the flashes and report back please.

Thanks for getting back so quickly. The lamp flashes 8 times as it pumps the small amount of water out. The programmer has also reached the end by then.

The ‘blond moment’ in this case is a likely Heater and/or Main Circuit Board fault 🙁

Not really apart from ‘visual inspection’ it’s a case of plugging a new board in to see if it works….Indesit engineers call the technique “Plug ‘n pray!”

Thanks for that. What’s the cost of a new board and where can I get one please?

Most of these boards are c.£80 and the dreaded VAT – if you could post the full model designation (ie W93UK) or even better, the serial number, we can tell you exactly.

Well I’ve tested the heater and it checks out at about 20 ohms with my “valve powered” tester, but that is the same as 3 other spares I have so I am assuming that the heater is O.K.
Now the BRAIN? I’ve had the circuit board out of its plastic box and it all looks fine with no signs of dry joints or smell of overheating. It must however be duff bucause after all the messing, cleaning of contacts and reconnecting etc. the symptoms are still the same.
BRAIN box number is COD.215006692.06 from a washer W93UK IPX4 LB2000C Serial No 207171712.
Whats the damage for a new one please chaps?May 22, 2005 at 12:01 pm #134897Penguin45

Module is part number C00080981. Typically, being Sunday I can’t find a price for it 🙄 . Dave Conway will be able to advise you later no doubt.
The module is supplied without the eeprom (small processor), so you have to transfer that across.
Bear in mind that no spares supplier will ever take back an electronic board under any circumstance, so be absolutely certain of your diagnosis……..

Looks like DC’s missed this one – I’ll remind him.
The eeprom is the little one BTW, now the yarking great big one.

I did miss it sorry, but I can’t check until the morning now.
I relied on a distributor the other night for a price for a motor and it seems I overquoted.
I’ll check the Merloni info in the morning for you 😀
Dave.

Hmm.
The plot thickens. Merloni’s disk comes up with part number C00093157 after serial number 20408….
Price is £77.15 inc VAT and delivery.
An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk if required please 😀

Dave,
Is this really the best price? My rather battered and torn Hotpoint is still on the go, since trying to repair the bollox new one. Is this the the way things are going? My best fix-it or bust will cost me £77 and it may not be the bit?
I love all the effort you guys put in to this superb web site, but modern technology really sux. I fix £35 million aircraft and feel helples at a poxy washing machine. My instinct is to stick with my Hotpoint. You know the one I mean, brushes every two years and a set of bearings every three! Oh, and a new door seal to make the wife happy!
Sorry, but isn’t it true?
