Yep, it is Giles. My personal opinion is keep the Hotpoint going and ditch the Indesit.
There is a cheaper option for the PCB, a reconditioned one, have a look in the weblinks for EMW electronics and QER, they both repair them.

KeymasterThis seems to be a common fault with the W 93.
Mine did exactly the same and I changed the timer and it worked perfectly for a week then packed in again(timer rotating). I thought it must have been an old or faulty timer that I was given as a replacement so had it changed with another new one. This was fitted and the machine worked perfectly for a week then packed in again (Timer rotating).
My local repair shop have stopped taking in Indesit as they had the same problem and could not resolve the fault.
Please let me know if you sort this as I feel. if it was the brain then it would not work with a replacement timer.
Thanks
Regards,

These machines don’t have timers in the traditional sense, if you are refering to the selector switch behind the control panel, that is all it is essentially, a selector switch with a small motor in side it.
The “brain” is the main control pcb at the bottom of the machine.

KeymasterPS, Forgot to mention that both times the timer rotated and I was unable to use the 1 to 4 programes it worked on prog 8(daily wash).

KeymasterHello Dave
The program selector is the one I refer to. Changing this retified the fault…..for a week.

I have just repaired one of these. Machine under 3 years old. customer was originally quoted over £150 by someone who didn’t even pull the machine out, told them it was not worth repairing and tried to sell them another machine for £200 plus taking the ‘old’ machine in PX.
Neon flashing 8 times.
The fault was caused by the pressure (water level) switch. A very inexpensive part.
The error codes are at best guide, at worst useless.

KeymasterHello iadom
Did the machine have the same symtem ie. programe selector rotating and the machine only washing on 8(daily wash.

No. This machine went into error mode on every programme, flashing 8 times. These codes are only a pointer to the general area of the fault, and you only find out all the possible causes with years of experience. If you are in any doubt, get it looked at by a competent engineer. The modules are far to expensive to replace on a ‘suck it, and see’ basis.
You buy a £80/£90 module that either does not cure the fault or blows because the initial fault is elswhere, or you get an expert who will have to stand the cost should any error of judgement he or she makes do the same, the choice is yours.

Regards.Just having another think about this, does your machine work OK if you set it to a rinse & spin programme? If it does then you may have a problem with the hot fill. Not sure, but if prog 8 ‘daliy wash’ is a cold fill only then that may account for your machine working on that one setting.

Does any body know what ten flashes means?
The programmer keeps clicking round, but it doeas work in the rinse and spin.
I just can’t find and detail on what the error codes mean. Thanks

It’s a water level sensing problem most likely (i.e. Blocked or restricted air hose/tube or faulty Pressure Switch). Having said that, other factors may give rise to a similar fault code, regard that as just a starting point of trying to resolve this perpetual problem with Indesits 🙁
