The motor on my AEG HD 6470-M cooker hood is slow to start spinning when switched on and when it does start up it runs for a a couple of minutes then starts to slow down considerably until it ceases to be effective although it never actually stops. Which components should I replace to get it back to normal please.

Sounds like just the capacitor and you can use this cheap one to replace that to give that a go first:

Thanks for the reply. I ordered the part that you recommended and it came today. The arrangement of the connection tags is slightly different on the new one – there are four instead of two – which ones do I use please?

there are still only 2 terminals but there is 2 of each one

the ones that are parallel are the same but to show you see pic and connect your wires as indicated

I took a risk and connected the wires up in what I believed was the correct way to the new capacitor and you will be pleased to hear that the motor is now running as it should again!! Thanks once again for you valuable help – it was much appreciated.

Looks like our messages crossed but thanks for sending the additional info – the photo makes it all very clear.
