Hi, I’ve got an oven cleaning & repair company.

A customer of mine has a Rangemaster Kitchener 90cm (serial number 7998 005163). They thought that the thermostat in the main oven (bottom left) was working inconsistently.
I cleaned it & tested the thermostat afterwards, but the temperature was correct. They contacted me a few days later saying that again food wasn’t cooking properly.
I bought and fitted a new thermostat (genuine Rangemaster one) a week or so ago, but again they’re saying that food isn’t cooking properly. I went over and tested the thermostat again, it did hit 180 as requested, but when I turned it up to 220 it didn’t react and the temp started dropping.

Is it likely that this new thermostat is faulty (or I’ve got an incorrect one)? Or could it be the selector switch (that the thermostat piggybacks on) that is faulty and that it isn’t allowing the spindle to turn sufficiently?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Many thanks for the response Dave.

Regarding the thermal cutout; I thought a faulty one would prevent the oven working?
Can the oven still work, but inconsistently with a faulty one?

    Kind regards.

it can be cutting off too soon

had one with similar problems to yours. got to a certain temp and cut off

cant remember but I think it only cuts off the element

think the indicator lamp stays on when it trip
so if the indicator lamp is on and its not getting hotter then most likely stat

but can never be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} without testing

    Sure.
I’ll order a new stat, but will test the old one before replacing it.

    Kind regards.
