I’m looking for electrical cable to connect a double oven to a 32A supply. The oven is rated at 4kW. Can anyone advise on whether this would be suitable?

It’s longer than I need, but the shortest that I could find in Screwfix!

Hi: 6mm is more than adequate for what you need.

as above 6mm is more than adequate

at 4Kw your oven only draws a max of just under 17A so is about 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the mcb rating

If you have a tool station near your screwfix they are slightly cheaper on the cable

also if you can find a small local electrical wholesaler they can cut cable to length

TLC still do cut to length cable, but not open on Sunday.

Thanks. Is there any reason that I might use heat resistant cable, which someone has suggested to me?

…and would 2.5mm cable suffice? Someone has recommended this:

you can use heat resisting if you want to but its not necessary with an oven. Its more important with a hob where the terminal block is nearer the elements

Heat resistant would be fine and 2.5mm would be ok as it’s rated at 25a, your 4Kw oven should draw a maximum of just under 17a at full power. If using 2.5 flexible then make sure that you get a good wrap around the terminal screw or double it back under the connection clamp and twist the strands together well.
