ParticipantMy washing machine programme finished with water still in the drum, all the program activity lights had extinguished. I then selected spin and the machine made a humming noise but no drum activity. I believe the drain pump could be faulty. I reviewed the available pumps in the white goods shop site and there are a few alternatives. Does anyone know what pump I should be selecting, the pictures are not decisive. Miele no longer stock the part.

ParticipantWe checked the pump filter at the bottom rhs front of the machine, no discernible debris present. We also checked the drain outlet hose, no kinks and no obstructions. I have not been able to access the pump itself, could there be debris present here which would prevent the impeller from turning.
Many thanks for responding to my posting.

ParticipantImpellor only moved in one direction so gently toggled the impellor and a carpet nail dropped out, impellor now moving freely. The pump is a bit noisier than previously, obviously being on power load without the impellor turning has probably not done it any good. The washing machine is in the garage so noise is not an issue. Thanks again for your help.

Moderatornail wont have caused any problem so noise is just age

ParticipantThe machine is into its 27th year without any faults during this time, now I am tempting fate. I can live with an age related noisy drain pump.
one last thing I was meaning to ask, does this machine have a brushless motor, it was an expensive outlay at the time.
