ParticipantHi all,
Can anyone suggest some next steps for me to try please on my zanussi ZDF21001NA
Symptoms: poor quality wash. Tea stains present in cups where previously had crystal clean cups. dirty “dog” smell to all contents after wash.
Steps taken: chexked sump is being drained on the first part of the cycle
Checked water inlets ok, covers the filter and sump assembly,
Checked water heats up
Swirly arms spin round, disassembled them to clean
top tray inlet (top of “c” assembly) is clean
Filter is clean inside sump
Any help gratefully received.its a 3 year old zanussiApril 11, 2020 at 12:05 pm #467877electrofix
Moderatorget a dishwasher cleaner and run it through
check the drain to make sure no dirty water from your sink can back fill the unit

Thanks for the response. Tried a dishwasher cleaner, and tried a full load with a dry sink . My gut says it’s a pressure issue as dirty water would get rid of stains, it would just stink.
Next thing I’m gonna try is disassembling the c “ring” to see if there’s any damage which may cause a loss of pressure

Moderatorif its filling up with fresh water, heating and draining properly then it cant stink. There is something wrong with this cycle
try running a rinse first then run a programme. do not use the sink while its running.

“Stink” was perhaps too strong a word but the cups and plates have a dog smell about them , like an unclean smell.
I’ve inspected the c ring now, it’s in good condition flowing freely from top to bottom and the converse.
I don’t think I can detach the waste pipe from the dishwasher. I certainly cant figure out how with my basic DIY skill.
When you say “rinse” do you mean the setting I have which is intended for pre rinsing heavily soiled plates before a full Cycle? What may that achieve in your thinking?

One thing I forgot to mention is that around 6 months ago the dishwasher started eating me out of house and home of salt. I mean I’d full it up with 2kg or whatever of salt, and by the end of one load it was empty . So I stopped using salt about 6 months ago, and I have “very hard water” according to some website I just came across. Wonder if I’ve allowed lomescale to take over.?

Moderatorlimescale wont cause it to smell although you could run a descaler through it
yes do a rinse first. the idea is that if there is any stale water causing the problem rinsing first should shift it
