The drum on my Bosch WFB 2004 washing machine seem t ohave a rumbling bearing. Is replacing it a straightforward job for a mechanically competent person (which I am) or do I need special tools etc? Is it a single item or replaced in a set with other components? And the next obvious question is: where can I source a replacement?!

Oh you are going to love changing the bearings on this baby! Not an easy task but rather shall we say a challenge for you. Now Bosch do not supply the bearing kit for these (just the complete Drum Spigot/Bearing Unit at around £110). But we can source a set of Bearings and seals to fit if you wish (Simply email your request to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk. )

Good luck, and if you get stuck you can always ask one of us to fix it for you at a modest cost via our : Repairs@

What’s the four digit number after FD on the lable? (on the door frame)

    Fun job, is it?!

Thanks for the fast answer. How much is that bearing, then?

“That bearing” is 2 bearings and a water seal kit at around £25 ‘ish, we could get one set for you?

It’s a seven year old, bottom of the range washer. If you can get bearings for £25 and have the inclination then it may be a viable repair.
But I would think long and hard about spending a lot of money on this appliance at this age. :duck:
If you do go ahead then I’m sure you will get good advice from the guys on this forum.
