ParticipantThe drum on my Bosch WFB 2004 washing machine seem t ohave a rumbling bearing. Is replacing it a straightforward job for a mechanically competent person (which I am) or do I need special tools etc? Is it a single item or replaced in a set with other components? And the next obvious question is: where can I source a replacement?!

Oh you are going to love changing the bearings on this baby! Not an easy task but rather shall we say a challenge for you. Now Bosch do not supply the bearing kit for these (just the complete Drum Spigot/Bearing Unit at around £110). But we can source a set of Bearings and seals to fit if you wish (Simply email your request to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk. )
Good luck, and if you get stuck you can always ask one of us to fix it for you at a modest cost via our : Repairs@

It’s a seven year old, bottom of the range washer. If you can get bearings for £25 and have the inclination then it may be a viable repair.
But I would think long and hard about spending a lot of money on this appliance at this age. :duck:
If you do go ahead then I’m sure you will get good advice from the guys on this forum.
