ParticipantThis error has come on at the start of a new cycle – the machine sits there clicking and won’t fill. I have checked the water flow, the in-line filter, the waste hose and the impeller in the drain sump – all good. The drain sump had some dirty water in it which I hadn’t noticed before and which I’ve bailed out.
What is the most likely cause or the next place to check? It could be the inlet solenoid valve but at £35 a throw it’s an expensive guess. On the other hand, the dirty water could indicate a pump-out fault?
Any help much appreciated.

Moderatorfirst thing any programme does is pump. if you put a jug of clean water in. start a programme it should pump that out first. Does it ?

ParticipantI have put some water in the bottom but it does not pump. It just sits there clicking and after about 10 secs comes up with the check water error. In fact the on/off power button is inactive and the machine doesn’t even get as far as programme select.

ParticipantYes the sump area is clear and I can turn the impeller with my finger.

Moderatorin that case it sounds like an electronic fault
there are 2 boards ( looked one up at random as the model no is not complete)
main board £121
control panel £52as far as programme select is concerned it may be in the middle of an operation and will return to it when its turned on

ParticipantThanks Dave. It had finished its previous programme fine so it’s just not starting up. I guess there are no diagnostics to say which board it could be?

Moderatormy guess would be the lower board but no there is little or no tech help with bosch
i take it you have had no signs of mice as i have had cables eaten over the years causing odd fault along with slugs crawling onto boards
you could take the board out and look to see if you could see anything

agree m8 but for some reason this one is not doing the initial pump out according to the posts and as far as i know that should happen at the start of every programme
