Hi,
Unfortuntately my Siemen dishwasher (sorry, couldn’t find serial or model number around door or on front door) just decided to stop draining properly, so I bailed out the water and removed the impeller cover to check if it was blocked or had missing teeth, but looked fine. I then pulled out the rubber bit covering the valve and water poured out. Also, after unscrewing the lid on the salt compartment, water gushed out. I then tried the machine again, the pump sounded like it was working, but the water wasn’t filling. Any advice on whether it is fixable would be appreciated.

Sorry for the confusion. The dishwasher stopped draining at the end of the washing cycle, so I bailed out the water in the bottom and checked the impeller and valve. I then ran the machine for a second time to test it and no water pumped into it, but it sounded like the pump was making a noise.
there is no pump to let the water in just a valve which in some cases can be difficult to hear
what your hearing is the drain pump so you probably still have a drain error
if the impellor is free and turning you need to checl for blockages elswhere
some dishwashers connect into the sink so remove the hose and put it in a bucket and see if it pumps out

Thanks for the reply.
I found the hose and it does connect to the sink, I removed it and a small amount of water poured into the bucket. I then put a shallow amount of water into the machine, turned it on and it made the usual sounds, but no water came out of the hose. Perhaps it takes a while for it to start pumping out, or perhaps I’m not doing it correctly? Is there anything else I could try before giving up on it?
you have to cancel and restart a new programme a2 the first thing any dishwasher does is pump

I started a new program, and yes the water did pump out into the bucket, so I put the hose back into the connection on the sink and ran another cycle. I listened and water was definitely being pumped out and going down the drain. The problem was that the cycle didn’t seem to progress at all, just chugging with cold water sitting in the bottom and coming out of the spray arms. I left it to finish the cycle but it was in the same state as when it started, but seemed to be stuck with one minute left and not draining. I’m not sure if anything can be done with the machine now, but if there is anything else I could try, please let me know.

Yes, the programme runs but hangs with one minute left and the water remains cold. Also, it doesn’t seem to be going through the cycle stages and is much quieter than normal, just a low rumble.
then in that case the next step is to check the heater
if you can use an ohm meter then thats easy but if it has gone it would mean changing the motor

Thanks for all the advice. Think I have got to the point where it would be better to put the cash towards a new machine, as it’s 8 years old now and I cannot locate the manual, model or serial number.
In regards to getting a replacement machine, are there any standout brands/models to look out for? I was thinking of going for a Miele, but not sure if it’s necessary to spend more if it does the same as a cheaper alternative.
