ParticipantHelp needed please. CDA 9002/1 Oven. Noticed that oven started to be slow in heating up – about 1/2 hour to get to 200. The fan is working, took the fan and element cover off inside the oven and noticed that the element does not glow red.
I did replace the same element almost 7 years ago for a slowly heating issue but that one clearly had a section that had expand and burst open but even in that state half of it still glowed red.August 26, 2021 at 9:14 am #478706electrofix
Moderatorget plenty of blown elements with no damage at all
you would need to measure the resistance with a meter to check if its failed

ParticipantThanks for your help. On closer inspection it does look like a slight bulge and distortion on a 3 inch section of the top of the 3 wound layers. It is screwed in from the back and by the time I have pulled it all out and got it out to test I may as well put a new one in I think. It is 7 years old which is about the age that I replaced the original one.
Is there any on here.August 26, 2021 at 10:59 am #478708electrofix
Moderatorits very likely this one but ask shop just in case
You state model as CDA9002 but is it CD9002 ?

This is a gen element which should be a better quality than the pattern units

ParticipantYes sorry it is CD9002/1
I have also found this one https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/ele2015ego-premium-compatible-fan-oven-heating-element which says “premium” pattern at £16.96 and then there is an even cheaper one at £14. Not fancy the £14 but the £16.96 may be worth a go, not sure.August 26, 2021 at 11:13 am #478710electrofix
ModeratorI would fit gen every time if the price is not silly
had far too many cheap ones fail after 6 to 12 months

ParticipantUpdate. Sorry for the late reply, I replaced the element and its all working as it should now. After taking the old one off I could see only a slight deformation in it.
One note for others is that the element came without a screw thread in the fixing plate holes so I had to search my box of bolt oddments to find 2 suitable m3 nut and bolts.
I did fist contact CDA but they informed me hat they no longer supply that model element. -
