By now we’ve all heard about the Right To Repair and that new EU legislation has come into force that the UK has its own version of that came into force on July 8th this year. It seems Miele and others may not be complying or, if they are it is not in the spirit of the law.

A while back we reported that we saw gas appliances going the way of the Dodo and that support for them was rapidly disappearing service-wise. Well, seems it’s not just the UK and there’s recently been a brilliant explanation on why this is so.

With heavy heart due to Brexit and new rules on export/import, taxation and now the carriers suspending services we have been forced to halt deliveries to EU states as well as some UK areas.

Sadly, due to Brexit and the decisions made by the UK Government, we will no longer be able to ship spare parts to Northern Ireland. This we are very sorry about and certainly not happy about given the promises that were made.

If you read the site often you probably saw the warnings that we gave some time ago about the effects that Brexit would have on the industry, what we couldn’t have foreseen was the extent of those and the addition of a global pandemic.

As we predicted some time ago, we have to report that many within the trade are reporting that many items are not in stock and cannot be obtained.

We’ve all got the lockdown blues right about now, our usual activities severely curtailed and some seem to think it’s little more than a holiday at home. But we don’t think things will be normal again for a while.

This has been fully expected and as we mooted in the article about spare parts, service and product delays in the news the other day.
