  Avoid Common Spare Part Mistakes

Every day we deal with spare parts, all day long, that’s what we do.

We know how complex it is and how frustrating it can be to find parts or more accurately, to find the correct parts and there are times when even we struggle to identify parts. Of course we always manage it where we have the information to do so but at times, it ain’t easy.

And, every day we see people that get it wrong and order an unsuitable replacement part. Because it is so easy to go wrong if you are not familair with the industry and how it works.

Here we try to put the spotlight on the most common things that people get wrong.

And, it’s not just from us! We will often have people on looking for parts that people have bought from other suppliers and were wrong, all too often for the reasons below.

Hopefully you may better appreciate why we encourage people to ask us about parts as, we want to make sure you get the correct part first time.

Ensure you get the correct part ordering from us by having a quick read at this important information

If you are even a tiny little bit unsure, you can often save yourself a heap of trouble and possibly money by just asking us before you order. We will confirm suitability or help and guide you to find out for sure you are ordering the correct part for any appliance you have.

We appreciate that people want answers right now and expect things to be easy but, sadly that’s not how our world works and that time spent up front is all too likely going to save you grief later.

  Ordering From Images

For us this is a very dangerous thing to do.

We will often say to people that one hinge looks like another, looks like another etc but, they will almost inevitably not be interchangeable.

The same applies to almost all spare parts, heating elements, seals, switches, thermostats and a host of other parts, they all look very alike and yet are totally different and can’t be swapped about.

In short when people do this it is often the case that it will be the wrong part that gets ordered, it won’t fit.

  Trying To Order By Size

There are some parts that you can use sizes for but it truly is, hardly any.

Almost all are shaped and moulded to fit one particular model from scores of them or, a range.

As above, they will often look very alike but, they won’t all fit.

For most things, do not rely on sizes and when they are given they are for confirmation only.

  Universal Spare Parts

Compatible universals spare parts that are usually cheap are a little different as they are designed to fit a plethora of different machines so look, size can be of use but not in every case.

What We See Looking Up Parts

These are examples of what we see when we are looking up parts.

Liebherr

Liebherr spare parts lookup

Above shows Liebherr’s Liparts system and all the info we get to look up parts.

As you can see, we have a part number, the quantity used, a very basic description with zero size information, a price code and a blowout diagram.

That’s all we get. Let’s look at another.

Electrolux

 Electrolux parts lookup

So here’s Electrolux’s Procorner system used for parts lookup and you can see that it is almost identical to the Liebherr system in terms of layout and the information that is available.

Beko

Beko parts lookup

Once more, pretty much the same thing if cosmetically different.

Smeg

Smeg parts lookup

And again, same thing only different.

  How To Correctly Find Parts

There is only one way really, the way we always use that gets it 100% correct by following this simple path:

Make or brand > Model number > Serial number or production code > Part required = Part number

It is vital in almost all cases to get to that part number, if you don’t then there is a very high probability that any part you order up will be wrong.

To get to the part number, you will need the rest of the information.

Sadly in a lot of cases there is no shortcut or way around this as there are scores of brands selling hundreds of models every year meaning that over the past few years there are thousands and thousands of machine models out there. Many will have completely different and non-interchangeable parts in them.

  1. I a looking for Parts as Follows for AEG Micromat 143 E/U.Model E-NR 947 602 433 Serial number 31501405.

Parts required Turntable Support ,& Glass Turntable or a Conversion Kit .

  2. E-Nr.
    SGS3042GB/01
    FD 7811 003373
    Type S10R51B
    4242002164304

Above is on the serial plate on a freestanding Bosch dishwasher. Do you have a replacement control panel module as only the 65 deg wash is working.

The Time Delay/H Wash – Rinse- Dry- indicator light panel is damaged and U/S.

    The other buttons are:
    Saucepans 70 deg
    Intensive 65 deg
    Normal 65 deg
    Eco 55 Deg
    Glasses 40 deg
    Quick

there are also Rinse aid and salt indicator lights.

  3. AEG Cooker Hood:
    MOD.CH 700X/GB
    E-Nr: 942 120 813
    F-Nr: 530 00045
    Motor: 170 W
Push button assembly consisted of: light, 1, 2 and 3 speed control buttons.

The push buttons are mounted on a PCB and are constructed with flimsey plastic clips which have broken causing the switch to mal-function. I need a replacement PCB assembly to which I can solder the existing wiring.

Some suppliers (e.g. Electrolux) say that I have to replace the PCB, wiring and associated parts on the motor costing £130+ which I find extortionate – can you do better?

I am an qualified engineer well capable of disassembling, soldering and reassembling provided I have the right parts.

    Many thanks.

    Martin

    1. Hi Martin,

That\’s an old Elica produced hood last made in 2003 and Lux are the only show in town on the part you need so, no it cannot be gotten any cheaper than that I am afraid.

It is also the only way you can buy that part.
