Within weeks of losing its head of marketing, BPL Ltd has lost another key managerial personnel. The latest to join the list is Sanjay Prasad, head of the mobile handset business , which was established recently.
He is joining Whirlpool as director (sales), and would be working under vice-president (sales) Benoy Roychowdhury. Just two weeks ago, vice-president (marketing) Sharad Mathur had quit the Bangalore-based consumer durables company to join Airtel Delhi as its marketing head.
Prasad, who was earlier looking after the business unit for BPL in the northern region as CBU head, had been shifted to Bangalore last year and was made in-charge of the cellular handset division. The company had made a soft foray into the mobile handset business in mid-2003 with imported cellular handsets.
Prasad could not be contacted for comments but Mr Roychowdhury confirmed the development, “Yes, he will be joining us as director (sales) shortly.”
In Whirlpool, the director (sales) reports to the vice-president and the hierarchy channel is different from that of the Indian system.
It could not be ascertained as to who will be replacing Prasad in BPL. The post of marketing head was given to an in-house man VG Rajgopalan, who was looking after the home appliances division.
In the recent past, BPL has also witnessed the resignation of KS Jayanth Kumar, who was a director & CEO of the company. Moreover, its head of sales Girish Rao had quit in October last to join LG Electronics as the man in-charge of sales.
