The Consumer Products After-Sales Service Commission of the China Electronic Chamber of Commerce (CECC) are to draft new after-sales service rules later this year.
It is being written in conjunction with the Science and Technology Division of the Ministry of Information Industry, the State Administration of Industry and Commerce and the Chinese Consumer Association.
The new rules hope to solve the growing number of complaints about the quality of electronic and electrical goods supplied from China. The new rules are expected later this year.
Statistics from the Chinese Consumer Association shows that complaints about home appliance products rose by 3.6% in 2005 and most of the complaints were made about air-conditioners, mobile phones, kitchen appliances, PCs and the flat-screen televisions.
