Appearance
Coloured (especially dark) heavy cotton garments (like denim) have white streaks on them after washing. Even when using a colour or liquid detergent.
We have often had the appliance being blamed for bleaching garment, especially towels, placed in the washing machine and normally the culprit turns out to be the hair care products or suchlike used by a family member.
This article explains the effect as there is no way that a washing machine can cause a bleaching effect on clothing and this cannot be resolved by a washing machine engineer through any sort of service or repair as it is a use issue.

Household bleach containing Hypochlorite may have accidentally come into contact with the garment.
Prevention
Avoid accidental contact between bleach and fabrics.

Acne cream (which may contain peroxide) has been used near the garment.
Prevention
Wash face and hands thoroughly between using acne cream and using a towel.

Hair preparations coming into contact with the garment.
Prevention
Rinse hair thoroughly between using hair preparations and using a towel.
NOTE: When garments have been damaged by hypochlorite (household bleach) the garments will not re-dye.
