Online kitchen appliances retailer DRL has won a top honour at the European Call Centre and Customer Service Awards.

DRL wins an award and moves into appliance warranties

DRL, which is based in Bolton and runs various stores including the appliance stores for Next, Boots and others, won the best customer service operation category at the awards, which were presented at London’s Hilton Hotel.

Judges praised DRL call centre in Horwich, which employs more than 150 staff, for ‘going the extra mile’ when dealing with customers.

DRL, which was established in 2000 as an online white goods retailer, has grown organically and through acquisition after buying delivery business Expert Logistics in 2009.

The firm announced earlier this month it is to create hundreds of jobs at a new call centre in Manchester dedicated to growing sales of its appliance warranty scheme.

DRL, a finalist in the 2011 M.E.N Business of the Year Awards, is investing £1m to launch the venture at Bruntwood’s Riverside building.
