Electrolux AB’s AEG unit is suffering from delivery bottlenecks at its washing machine operations as a result of a strike at the unit’s facility in Nuremberg, Germany, the IG Metall union said.
As a result, AEG is no longer able to fulfil orders from major retailers, said Juergen Wechsler, the strike leader.
‘Electrolux is experiencing massive problems in its washing machine production,’ he said.
An AEG spokesman confirmed that the its logistics were not ‘100 pct,’ but he said product deliveries were continuing.
The Nuremberg plant’s 1,700 workers have been on strike for more than two weeks over the size of their severance packages.
Electrolux wants to close the plant at the end of next year and shift production to Poland and Italy in order to cut costs.
