Everything Electrical is based in Pontefract and run by Thomas Cahill, it’s not to be confused with other companies of that, or similar name who are all properly going about their business
Thomas Cahill, the man behind the website Everything Electrical has disappeared leaving hundreds of customers thousands of pounds out of pocket. On the website he offered huge savings with goods at half price. The website has now been taken down.
Ian Boswell relies on the internet quite a lot to do his shopping. He ordered a fridge freezer in August through Everything Electrical and paid £400, via PayPal (a method of paying online). It’s now November and there is still no sign of it.
Faisal Munif also paid £400 for a fridge freezer from Everything Electrical. He was told it hadn’t arrived because of courier problems. He ordered a laptop as well, which didn’t arrive either.
Rosalind Cooper also sent Everything Electrical £400 and also never received her fridge freezer.
Thousands of pounds have been sent to Everything Electrical, but the money actually ends up at a terrace house in Pontefract. Thomas Cahill later set up a new business in Durham where he was buying electrical items, but with bouncing cheques. He now owes local suppliers £30,000.
PayPal said it had stopped Everything Electrical’s account before being contacted by Watchdog to reduce potential risk to customers. The company advises people who have not received their goods to log on to their PayPal account and file a complaint. To avoid similar experiences in the future, PayPal recommends its customers read the security tips on its website www.paypal.com/buyertips/
The police have already contacted a number of complainants, but anyone who has not already reported the matter or contacted police is asked to ring Pontefract CID on 01977 601085. West Yorkshire police are also liaising with colleagues in Durham over possible links with an electrical wholesalers. Durham CID are dealing with that matter, on 0191 386 4929.
