Jim, I’ve got a few sheets left. Down in Cornwall this week, though.

Chris.
Hope the weather is better there than here. Customer has no problem in waiting a few days.
Let me know how much they are inc postage when you get back.
PS. Thanks for that link Steve, will keep it as a back stop.
Jim.

I’ve had one doing this and bitumin sheets cured it (after a quick look on here and seeing what chris had done). When cust reported noisy i thought “yeah right” then when i got there and she put it on, wow loud!

I also have had a customer telling me about her 10 making a very loud noise on spin so I have ordered some anti-vibration sheets from here in preparation for a visit.

If those are the flexible foam type (looks like they are) they would offer no ‘stiffening’ to the flexing panel. Inside a speaker enclosure you are controlling airborne reverb and flutter so the foam will do this fairly well in a rigid box. The machine cabinet is flexing the panel or the panel has a small distortion in it that will cause it to resonate and generate noise. The automotive panel damping pads offer density and a level of torsional strength as well as adding mass to the panel. The panel is less able to twist or drum due to the weight and stiffness that is applied to it so the flexing is therefore controlled. Acoustic foam is not suitable for this application – sorry!!

I know what you mean Steve, but the ones I ordered are Self-adhesive 3mm bitumen damping panels and are listed as suitable for sound deadening of engine compartments etc, so it would seem to be similar to what Chris has used.

Martin, have you ordered the standard dedesheets from that web site or the heavy duty ones?
I fitted the ones Chris brought to me last week, used two side by side on the left hand side ( from rear ) but could only get one on the right hand side.
I tried the machine with a few small items the customer had left for me ( she was out at the time ) and it seemed to have done the trick.
Sadly she phoned back that evening to say she had a load of towels in the machine, I could hear the loud vibrating, drumming noise over the phone. 😥

Perhaps as well, went back to my problem one this afternoon. I still had one sheet of the bitumen left so stuck that over the middle of the other two on the left hand (from the rear) side.
These sheets are only 2mm thick.
Spun it with a good load in and it seemed much better, time will tell. 🙂
Jim.
PS. This is for Chris. 😉 😳

Sadly this customer is still complaining of vibration at top speed. She says she has gone next door and listened to her neighbours Miele which is much quieter. 😥
Has everyone else with this problem managed to satisfy their customers, if you know what I mean. 😉

I hope you told her shes just being fussy?
How can she think its logical to compare two totally different machines with two totally different loads, if there was a load in the neighbours.
You will never please her.
