Silly question, but Ive been away from fridges for a wee while.
On a normal domestic system, what does my gauge read when connected to the low pressure side if all is ok. This is with 134a.
The last time I did a regass was with r12, and as far as I can recall. A good system was bang on zero.

Broad brush – With the compressor running, somewhere between 2 and 5 psi. Hope that helps.

    I have always found with a cold cabinet R134a will be 0 – 2″Hg.

R134a boils off at -28 degrees C, this should equate to zero back pressure, therefore stat turns off the compressor.

Thats if you can find an oil free system 😉

Depends on the size of the system some GE Food centres can pull well into the -5 and below and be okay and a wee larder fridge could be + 3 or there abouts and be okay.
