ParticipantNot sure I’ve got the full SP on this one but,
I fixed a Bosch W/M at a customers today and she asked if she could run by me a problem she had with her De Dietrich slimline dishwasher?
The machine is approx 15 years old (old Bosch SPS series in fact) and doesn’t fill. Having phoned the De Dietrich service centre she was told that the cost would be £144 to be taken from her credit card before the appointment was to be completed? And that the repair would be guaranteed for 3 months? 😕
So, would they fix it for that including parts? Or does that just cover the call-out fee and labour on site?
Can any De Dietrich agent comment please?…..Thanks! 🙂

Ah yes that figures, Repaircare eh….hmmmm?…..thanks for that Don.
Now it wouldn’t take much working out that had my customer booked a service call and stumped up her £144 that at some point in time a Repaircare agent would call one her. That within 2 minutes of him being in the kitchen in front of the said dishwasher would scratch his head and say…
…….“Oh dear oh dear missus, the spigot regurgamiwhatsit has broken on your machine and unfortunately as it’s 15 years old the parts is obsolete, sorry and all that. So we’ll refund your money less my £40 ‘call-out fee’ on your credit card when I report back to the office…..bye for now!”
The evil bugger in me is half tempted to put it to the test, stump up the £144 and see how it transpires? Hmmmmm??
Mind you the games up before I’ve begun being as I’ve broadcast it all over UKW and stuff…..I’d best not pursue it further being as I know what’s wrong with the machine (simple fault in fact.:snigger:) but the idea did cross my mind nevertheless……..hey ho!

Hi Martin
You get a second repair out of your customer and charge her accordingly, she gets a much better value repair from someone she knows and trusts and at the same time supports an independent repairer.Great result everyone`s a winner 😀

Then the repaircare guys get made redundant and become independant repairers. :rolls:
Sorry, one of those days.
Just had to help a client who whilst attempting to repair his Neff D/W didn`t realise he`d placed the pressure stat terminals in the wrong location.
And then moaned about the charge. 😥

The repaircare guys are Independent repairers. And therefore why does Martin think every Independent that works for Repaircare is untrustworthy and unable to repair “a simple fault”.

“every Independent” no, please don’t cast unnecessary aspertions on something I never said.:(
I am however aware of the repaircare agent that works the patch to which I did refer. And, as it happens, so does Alex. 😉

HELLO
I recently reduced my call-out charge in a bid to generate more work. A was called out by a customer who could not raise repaircare on a Saturday. A visit was arranged for the Monday Morning to His LG American style Refrigerator.
When I arrived, the compressor was red hot and oil in the condensate drain. The evaporator was leaking and the compressor not pumping. The best price including call-out, labour and parts I could do was £300.
At this point he then mentioned the Repaircare. I pointed out the pitfalls of calling them out to an extensive fault for £100 all-in and that they would probably, in-view of recent changes to their T&C’s simply refund him £60 and keep the other £40. On top of the £20 Nominal charge I had made.
I suggested he give D&G a call as they may be able to help. When He did this they quoted £169 for repairs up-to £250 including 1 year warranty on the appliance (not just the repair). If they could not repair it, then he would get a full refund.
In the end it turns out the appliance is still under 2 year warranty with LG. Now his problem may be that as I fitted an LTV to analyse the system, they may now refuse to repair.
You just can’t win some times.

If so I am disappointed at R/Care. If that is the case Martin I have to agree with you, and take your point that your comment was not intended to be a generalisation.

Done some research, the outfit under consideration here are NOT Repaircare agents. It seems there was dialogue but for operational reasons they were not taken on by Repaircare.
Make of that what you wish.
However the agents that cover your area Martin are colleagues of mine and do not come under the band of nefarious repairers. Therefore the job sould have been attended with full professionalism, and any issues would purely be administrative.

It’s on the near edge of my patch Alex in GU34 and the heartland of the ‘Blue Meanies’ 😉 hence my somewhat hasty assumption?….Never to mind eh. 😳
I need to find out from De Dietrich though just who are their agents in north Hampshire (for U/G repairs that is)?
I ceased my agency work for them 15 or more years back and haven’t a clue who’s taken on their work since? 😕

All Brandt official work will be carried out by whatever company whom Repaircare set-up use for that area, and looking at the code the agent concerned was, like You & I both, old Brandt agents in the days of yore.
None of this matters in any case, as it looks like the “Offer” was declined by the customer, hence your involvement.
Suggest case closed.
