Had the covers off my 1606 today to investigate what the DCE described as a nauseating smell whilst ironing the laundry.
Heater open circuit so ordered replacement.
Question is should there have been a fault alarm for dud element as the machine was happy to complete the program with cold water.

Not sure on the 1606 Steve, I thought they halted the same as the newer ones.

Not in the office so can’t check it for you ATM.

No error codes listed for heater faults. 😉

its funny how so many appliance are unable to pick up something like a heater open circuit yet a problem such as an alternating valve on a smeg dishwasher will bring the whole appliance to a stop. I think most people would be happier if their dishwasher or whatever continued on regardless. Indesit and Hotpoint are the same with regard to the heater as are most others.

Interesting, replaced a open circuit heater today on a Hoover washer she said it only flashes the fault code f18 when she does the 60 or 90 degree washes on the other programmes it just carries on.

I think most people wash cold(30°c)now days so they are totally unaware of not heating faults.
