Right, this is just plain mental.

It would appear that Glasgow City Council, in it’s ultimate wisdom, have decided to have a new fine introduced. You get fined for being in a stopped vehicle with the engine running.

So, now we get fined for talking on the phone when the car or van is stopped let alone when it is on the move. But more annoying in our case is stopping to read the map or whatever but, yep, you still get fined! Nice one eh?

So it seems to me it’s another poorly thought out Green Tax really, keeps the tree-huggers happy, but with little thought at all put into it as I have to wonder how much environmental damage will be done through the replacement of all those starter motors and batteries that will end their lives prematurely along with other parts. Not to mention the fact the wasted fuel on starting the engine more.

    Another fine plan… not. 😕

This is just one more example of how this country is going downhill, not satisfied with taxing us at source, indirect taxation, fines, VAT, customs taxes and using sophisticated systems to track our every move its no wonder that the country is in such a state !

When will the population say enough is enough, we elect goverments and councils to represent us not rule us, The french have far more balls than we do and act when their goverment or the EU try to make life worse for them. The British on the other hand have a pathetic attitude when it comes to standing up for themselves. Don’t misunderstand me I am as english as the next man but we are on a slipery slope make no mistake and by letting this particular council enforce such stupid and unacceptable practices we are encouraging these beuracratic idiots even further.

    Mr Angry ! 😳

I should point out that it is already the law that if you are to answer a mobile phone, the vehicle must be stationary with the engine stopped – ie parked. This councils actions are really rather irrelevant with regard to the law as it currently stands.

    But, yes, petty.

Fair enough Chris, although I’d say that being stationary was safe enough, but this is if you are stopped with the engine running for any reason. It’s just stupid.

They need to issue a few to pay for the TV advertising campaign to tell you that they’re going to fine you too! 😕
