I just had a brief look. It’s making a bit of a racket – sounds a bit more like belt tension pulley than bearings but I could be wrong. I removed the two screws holding the back of the lid in place and lifted up the front a bit. I can see two screws holding the top of the front panel. If I remove those will the front come away? What will happen to the drum if I do that? Will it fall out?
Also as the heater is gas powered, am I allowed to work on it at all as I’m not Corgi?
    Any advice appreciated.
    Mike.

If it’s gas don’t touch it would be my suggestion.
Used to do loads but can’t now because of Gas safe,Don’t think they are produced anymore either, shame decent machine.

Hmm. What’s the law on it? Anybody know? The guy had disconnected it from the gas himself, a simple push pull thingy. I’ve worked on one or two gas hobbed range cookers in the past with electric ovens without needing to touch the gas parts.
It’d be a nice cop out for me if the law says no because the thing is a pretty filthy job with loads of accumulated dust. On the other hand I’m sure if I can’t do it, the thing’s gonna end up as landfill despite being a pretty easy fix I’d think, and as you say, a decent machine.

I suppose if you had a gas safe registered person with you to check it and sign it off it could be done legally.
If you do and want an exploded view of machine email me.
Easy fix it’s usually the drum carier wheels at the rear or maybe fan wheel.Drum drops when front removed but doesn’t fall out, disconnect belt and lift drum forward.

Thanks spimps. Great to have that info. I’ll tell the guy that if he can organise the gas man to check it over then I’ll do the job, if not then no. I’ll give him an estimate to cover wheels, shafts, fan and tensioner and if he’s OK with that I’ll go round and dismantle it to see exactly what’s needed. Then when I go back with required parts he can have the gas man lined up. Already got the exploded from the American site you posted up on a previous thread.

You may struggle to find anyone with the correct ticket to work on gas tumble dryers. We certainly don’t have anyone round here and I have to advise customers to scrap it and get an electric one 🙁

OMG, you mean it’s not sufficient just to be Corgi registered? We’d have to find somebody local to here with a particular certificate for gas tumble dryers? This health and safety industry is just getting out of hand. Regulations, regulations, regulations, yeah jobs for the boys more like, check this, check that, fill in this assessment, tick these boxes, sit through this course (and fall asleep). Never mind all the environmental damage caused by throwing away perfectly good things because they’re past their date code (e.g. helmets, fire extinguishers, even three pin plugs).
    😡 😡
OK that’s it, rant over, thanks for listening, feel much better now.

I may be wrong but I think that’s how it worked with CORGI, you had to stay up to date in training/exams for each type of appliance, fires, cookers, boilers etc, not to mention LPG :rolls:
