Bosch WAQ283S1GB – I bought this just under four years ago from ao.com.

Over the past two weeks it’s been vibrating noticeably more when on the spin cycle. I’m guessing this is the bearings starting to become knackered. Assuming three full load cycles a week, is four years average these days for a midrange washing machine?

I’ve had a look online and it seems to be a sealed drum. New one is £225 + fitting (unless I do it myself). Practically the cost of a new machine.

Is there anything I can do to prolong the inevitable? Lower the spin speed? More clothes and fewer washes, or fewer clothes and more frequent washes?

Any other advice would be welcome.

yes yours has a sealed tub and before long you could end up with oil on your washing or water leaking out the rear of the drum. For some reason the sealed tub models do not seem to last as long. Just been to a Bosch machine that’s 8 years old bearings are fine but its not a sealed tub

look at WAN28150GB currently for sale around £329 at AO and its not a sealed tub as far as a know
