Participant“somewhere” under the machine. Checked the filter, filter pump, pipes downstream of there (all clear). Doesn’t leak if I run with the drum empty, leaks if there’s a load. Small hole in the rubber seal by the door in a crevice…would it be correct to assume that this is the culprit?
If so, how complicated is the fix, and is it doable by an amateur? local engineer has quoted £85 for the job.

Hi
I would think tha £85 is a little on the high side, what’s your postcode i’m sure an engineer on here will be able to assist.
The Door seal is not an overl complicated task but the dreaded Spring used to fix the seal to the drum has prooved to be a pain in the butt for many a person, including some engineers.
Stick your postcode in the repairs@ section and you’ll find an engineer that will be more than happy to assist.
If your in any of the CT postcode areas, you might even get me to sort it out or you.

Quick follow up…engineer mentioned in the original message has identified the door seal as the problem (rubber has dried/become brittle and allows water to leak out of the drum…an issue with washer dryers says he). Problem is that as the machine has no detachable front panel (true) he says to replace the door seal he has to dis-assemble the drum from the back, a big job and one that’s going to cost £120 now.
Any engineer reading this prepared to sanity check this? Given mr Pat-UK was of the opinion that £85 was pricey for the job, am I being overcharged?

Most grateful for any help…

Door seal is 1242635-08/2, SSP £19.90 + VAT. We are unable to comment on the overall pricing as labour rates vary across the country. I would comment that I can fit this door gasket through the door opening in 30-40 minutes, allowing for time halfway to let my hands recover from cramp. Pulling out the tank is a long way of doing the job!
