How did you test it with a magnet? And, even at that, is it not possible that the magnet you used to test could be way stronger then the little one in the flow meter as it will be tiny I should imagine and not powerful at all?

I can see what your saying Kwatt. I may give it a go – trying to fit a new reed switch in it then. I have seen these on ebay, and it looks about the same spec:
Worth giving it a go as I am a bit handy with a soldering iron.

Why not just get the right part and be done with it? Seems a lot of hassle for what isn’t a very expensive part.

Sorry, didnt see your reply – am desperate to get it working so went to maplins and brought a reed switch there – fitted it and no change.
Do you really think that a new part would be any different – I cant see that it would???
I realise the part is not that expensive, but I was desperate to get it fixed, and obviously if I can get it fixed cheaper than buying a new part then its a bonus. It really wasnt that difficult either, also I wasnt convinced after testing it either.
Is there really anything else it could be?

My experience on Bosch appliances, you cannot mess with it using parts not designed/built for this particular model. It is best to follow the advice. Bosch appliances are fickle when it comes to putting things right, do it well and it will reward you. Failing that, you will end up hating the appliance and start wishing you had taken the advice in the first place. Few more nights of washing up never hurt anyone!

With the impellor jug , its rarely the reed switch that fails . Its normally the magnet falling off the impellor blade itself thats the problem ! If you hold the impellor jug and blow into one end , you should see the inner impellor spinning with the black magnet showing. If the blades are white then the magnet has vamooshed and a new impellor jug is the only answer

Just for anyone else with a similar problem – I should have taken notice of Martin sooner, as a new flow meter did resolve this issue.Thanks, and appologies if you took offense Martin. It wasnt intended.

It appears I spoke to soon, as although it completed that first wash it is doing the same again, and now sometimes with the door open, so I have removed the float off the bottom to test in case it was the float switch because there is no water in the bottom.
Any ideas, or is it looking like the PCB has gone?
