ParticipantHello everyone,
First time poster here, as I’m after a little advice.
My 5yr old Indesit WIDXL146 is goosed: about a week ago it tripped the RCD on the consumer unit and its been dead since. I noted it only did it when the door was shut, so the repair man tried a replacement interlock and a couple of other things and its in need of a new logic board and therefore it’s an uneconomic repair.
Even though its not come at a great time, I suppose you can’t ask for much more for a £250 machine.
So, I’ve been shopping around and have a few options within my means:
– The repair man can supply a “brand new” but grade B cosmetically Hoover wydn855d for £270 delivered and get rid of the Indesit. However I have no knowledge of Hoover models and this appears to be an old model or even discontinued.
– Get a similarly priced / specified Indesit and hope it lasts the same amount of time (very wasteful in my view but it seems to be the way of theses things)
– A bit out of my budget is a Bosch WVD24520GB for £450 but I would prefer to go for something more robust and of higher quality. My issue is that I’ve read here that some Bosch models aren’t necessarily German manufactured are on a par with my old Indesit repair and longevity wise – I would love to know if this applies to this model.
So what would your choice be?

If you go for Bosch make sure it’s the excell or logix range. The classix range is of a lower quality

Great, thanks. It looks like the Bosch WVD24520GB is an Excell – does that mean it should be significantly better quality than my old Indesit?

Also, any idea why the WVD24520GB doesn’t show up on Bosch’s website? Bit concerned I cant preemtively download a service or user manual.

That model is now discontinued and replaced by the WVD2452BGB, still in the Exxcel range.Don

Oh dear, So I am not having a lot of luck ordering that model! Nowhere has stock.
So, now I am looking at the following models:
Bosch AvantiXX WVD24460GB
Bosch WAQ243D0GB VarioPerfect…now these two dont fall into the ranges of Bosch as described earlier, so I would appreciate any advice as to whether these are decent quality or the cheaper models.
Also, as a bit of a curve ball, I am considering a Samsung:
– Samsung WD1704RJE2
… Are these any good?
All the best,

Oh dear, apparently the WVD24460GB isn’t an Advantix, it’s a Classix

I now have the definitive answer 😀
The WVH28360GB Exxcel washer dryer in white is currently in stock at Bosch replaces the WVD24520GB which is now discontinued and no further stock is available.
This is now the only white Exxcel washer dryer available. There is one Classixx and one Logixx washer dryer as well but that’s another story.

If its brand new then just say you want it replaced.

Since nobody’s said it yet…
The best thing you could do, to do yourself a favour, is not buy a washer dryer. They’re all a compromise and most (all) are garbage. In my personal opinion of course.
